The computer runs because of these microprocessors situated in the CPU.
Today, we enjoy Pentium processors but the initial days were dominated by MSI and SSI chips. You must be aware that microprocessors are found on most of your daily equipments be it the thermostat, telephone and car. It is an integral part of your daily activities. They have the power to calculate mathematical operations using algorithms. Due to floating point processors, the microprocessors can conduct any operation or computation accurately at the earliest. The 8-bit and 32-bit microprocessors are out of the scene and are replaced by 64 bits processors. The microprocessor carries out instructions depending on the speed and clock meter. Normally the faster processors are measured in MHz and GHz. Due to advancement and further technology in various fields microprocessors need to be much ahead in their performance. Hence, today we have multi-core processors which help the computer to perform at the drop of a pin. Multi-core processors involve two or microprocessors that carry instructions and perform combined functions of both the microprocessors effectively.
